Rear entrance door installed

Got the rear entrance door installed today. It has to be installed so that the stucco work can complete on the back. The area around front entrance door will have wood cladding. So the front entrance door can wait until later.

This is a very heavy door. Thermally broken aluminum door with a dual pane tempered glass. A 60″ vertical ladder pull is used as the door handle. The ladder pull is offset toward the middle of the door to give access to the lock. For the lock, it is paired with a digital lock that accepts a normal key, a key code, or a RFID tag, and it has an electric motor that will automatic lock / unlock the door.

A close-up of the touch screen based Samsung SHS-3320 lock on this gorgeous door. The lock has a very minimalistic design. A light up touch screen that’s not otherwise visible. So the only feature you can see really is the convention key hole. I think this goes with my design of the door very well.

This is the back side of the lock. Again it is a modern minimalistic design. There’s just a single button to lock/unlock the door from the inside together with the conventional thumb turn. There’s also an optional magnetic sensor that’s not installed right now. The sensor will allow the lock to lock the door automatically after the door is held at the closed position.

The aluminum door frame is secured by 4 metal brackets to the wall on each side. This is so that there’s no screws through the door frame other than the ones that came with the door. This way the installation looks clean and you don’t have to be visually distracted by the screw head on the door frame.
