I got RONA to send me a few more piece of LVLs so that I can get Carlos to change the framing up in the bedroom so that we can install a ceiling recessed ductless heat pump there. The original plan was to use a wall mounted unit. However the height of the wall was a bit too low and I have too much of the wall occupied by openings to accommodate it.

Carlos and his crew came on Tuesday and framed up the 2′ x 2′ opening. Two double LVL beam supports the ceiling. The the two joist was cut. The cut joists are secured to two smaller piece of LVL that is hung on the double LVL beam.

While they are here, they did some more modification for me as well. This is the back of the front shade. I had a scupper here and it really doesn’t work for me simply because I am trying to keep the south wall clear of obstructions and a downspout really defeats that. So I had Carlos cut off the scupper there, and then added a ramp on the top to slope it towards the front of the house.

I will get the roofer back to put roofing membrane on this and then I have to get the EIFS patched up where the scupper was sitting.

This is how it slops towards the front.

The front of the loft area are now also stuffed with wood so drywall can be attached to it.

And a temporary guardrail has been setup at the loft area as well.

The stair opening to the basement also had wood stuffed in the beam flange and a ledger is added on the left hand side to match up with the lower wall.
