Plumbing day 2

Today the brothers at AV Mechanical is here to dig up the sanitary connection so that a brand new PVC pipe can be connected instead of the old broken clay pipes.

Digging for Sanitary Connection

It was a hard job, there’s not a lot of room to dig and my footings are very large. But after many hours of hard word, the connection was made. So now I have brand new PVC pipe coming into the house and on the outside it connect directly to the existing ABS pipes. Here’s just after the connection is completed. The white pipe is the weeping tile. The actual sanitary connection comes out diagonally from the corner of the footing then goes straight down towards the city connection.

Then we put gravel around the weeping tile again topped with filter fabric. Then back filled. Now it’s back to where it should be and I do have all new sanitary connections coming into the house now. The only thing left on the outside is for the plumber to cut off that clean out and cap it.

The plumber also completed a large portion of the underground drain connection. Here on the right you see the floor drain in the mechanical room as well as the sump pit. In the middle, it’s the drain for the laundry room. To the right you see the clean out to the outside of the house as well as the backwater valve.

A close up of where the sanitary connection enters the house. You see it comes in at around 45 degree angle. Then there’s a clean out to the outside. The backwater valve is connected immediately after that. Then it branched into three connection, one goes to the floor drain in the mechanical room as well as the drain from the laundry room. One goes to the floor drain in the laundry room, and one goes to the rest of house to the main stack.

Backwater Valve

Here’s the connection for the rest of the basement. On bottom is where the sanitary connection comes from where the backwater valve is. In the middle it’s the shower connection for the basement bathroom. On the top to the left is a floor drain under the stairs. And on the top to the right is where it will connect to the main stack.
